AT&T and Tribeca have teamed up to launch a new film initiative, AT&T Presents: Untold Stories - An Inclusive Film Program in Collaboration with Tribeca that will ensure that diverse storytellers always have a screen to shine on.
AT&T will provide funding of up to $1 million for 1 talented filmmaker to create his, her or their film, and Tribeca will provide mentorship from seasoned industry professionals. AT&T will distribute the winning film across its video platforms, including DIRECTV NOW. This new film initiative is a multi-year, multi-tier alliance between AT&T and Tribeca along with Tribeca Film Institute.

Film Independent's Screenwriting Lab is an intensive five-week workshop designed to support each writer's unique voice through the development of a feature screenplay.
The Screenwriting Lab is open to any writer applying with a completed draft of a feature-length project they wish to workshop during the program. Selected participants are paired with Creative Advisors with whom they will work with both one-on-one and during group Lab sessions. They will also workshop their project pitch, hear from guest speakers to receive guidance on both the craft and business of screenwriting and expand their network meeting and receiving feedback from industry executives. The Screenwriting Lab is scheduled to run in May 2019.

The Mobile Film Festival is an international online festival presenting short films of 1 minute maximum, made with a mobile phone or a tablet device.
This 14th edition is a special edition in partnership with the Unites Nations, YouTube Creators for Change and the European Union as part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. So we are back with the usual rules « 1 mobile, 1minute, 1 film », but now imposing a theme : « Stand Up For Human Rights , the official slogan of the UN campaign.
The festival aims to discover and support new talents, notably thanks to :
- 3 x $23,000 grants offered by YouTube Creators for Change and the European Union to make a short film in a year with professional means and the help of a producer
- 2 x $3,500 grants of screenwriting assistance offered by the CNC (French National Film Center)
The festival is online, free and is a very nice stepping stone for young talents who wish to evolve in the film industry : last year, the festival generated 17 000 000 views in 1 month, and the films selected will be shown to a public composed of producers, artistic agents and short film professionals.

The Directors Guild of America Student Film Awards for African-American, Asian-American, Latino, and Women Directors are designed to honor, encourage, and bring attention to outstanding student directors in DGA selected film schools in the Eastern and Western regions. The awards bring prizes of $2,500 to the winners in each category in both regions. Awards ceremonies will be held at DGA headquarters in Los Angeles and New York on dates to be determined.
